Boca Inlet… Where do we even begin? Located on the southern edge of Palm Beach County, “Boca Inlet” is practically synonymous with South Florida surfing, and the crowded lineup will certainly remind you of that. At times, the ocean here feels more like a war zone than a surf spot: flying projectiles (surfboards), too many bodies to dodge, and people dropping in on you seemingly from both sides like its nothing. Despite the chaos (all caused by people, not the spot itself), Boca Inlet is a legitimately special spot. The long south jetty provides fantastic wind protection from those NE windswells we all love, often grooming random chop into long lefts and rights you can ride from the jetty to the beach.
As usual for South Florida, cold fronts and steep North Swell producers are the real ticket. Boca Inlet doesn’t love super-low tides — it typically works best with a bit more water, either approaching or dropping off a high tide.
The cherry on top? The water color. Boca’s water can be absolutely stunning — crystal-clear, tropical blue. “The Aquarium,” as one local legend calls it, is a perfectly fitting name for this gem.
If you choose to surf here on a crowded day, please be mindful of everyone in the lineup — including yourself. We’ve all seen accidents at Boca that could’ve been avoided with just a little awareness.
